Meet the Management Team

As a profoundly Deaf man who works in a mental health setting, Ilyas is well acquainted with the needs of the Deaf community. He has always advocated for the social betterment of the Deaf community and Deaf rights. Ilyas is the current Chairman of the Board of Management and works with the Board of Trustees and the Chief Executive Officer to ensure service provisions match the requirements of the Deaf community.

Azad has worked with the organisation since 2016 overlooking its financial requirements and operational functions. He works with the Board of Trustees to help steer the strategic direction of the organisation and ensure objectives are met by the operations staff. He is a Registered Sign Language Interpreter.

Altaf is a college lecturer. As a parent of a Deaf child, Altaf initially engaged with Al Isharah’s services for his son. Ever since, he has been involved with Al Isharah as a trustee with his tenure now exceeding 13 years. He overlooks the financial functions of the organisation and works with trustees to set strategic objectives.

Meraj is a Strategy Consultant by profession. He has been involved with Al Isharah for over 12 years. After initially volunteering with Al Isharah as a student, he developed a fierce passion for working with the Deaf community. Meraj is a trustee of the organisation and works to ensure operational activities comply with the charity’s policies. 

A Medical Doctor by profession, Dr Mahfuj has been involved with the charity for over 12 years. He has worked in various capacities within the organisation, including managing the operations, fundraising, community events and now sits at the helm to help determine the strategic vision of the organisation and overlook its stability.

Astra Cader works with young Deaf people in an educational setting. She has amassed extensive experience working with various Deaf organisations. As a Deaf woman, she understands the requirements and challenges faced by the Deaf community and advises on strategies to better help engage the Deaf community through our services.

Menar, a project Manager by profession and has worked within senior management positions of Al Isharah. He has been involved with Al Isharah for over 8 years. His advice extends to the financial stability and helping optimise the operational functions of Al Isharah.

Amjaid has worked with Al Isharah for over 13 years. He provides mentorship to senior management within the organisation, and helps guide the strategic direction of Al Isharah, whilst helping the organisation mitigate its risks. 

Mahfuz joined Al Isharah in 2022 as the Fundraising Manager. Graduating from this position, to the current Head of Operations, he oversees the daily functions and logistics within the organisation. Reporting directly to the CEO and Board of Trustees, Mahfuz works closely with various departments to ensure project delivery, efficient resource allocation and completion of operational objectives.

Initially connected with Al Isharah as a parent of a Deaf child, Masudah now leads the educational team, using her expertise in Deaf education to shape curriculum and teaching standards. She ensures high quality inclusive learning, overlooks all teaching staff, and oversees national expansion efforts. Working closely with the CEO and Head of Operations to align Al Isharah’s educational goals and ethos.
